Good Buy Moon

Crested Butte, CO. This is the place dreams are made of. We arrived in a very quaint dreamy mountain town where children's stories are written under blankets of stars and creamy milky ways. A sense of nostalgia and sweet innocence is evoked as kids play hide and seek with friends on their way to their slumber party while parents patiently wait to cross the street with adorable gaggle. The night air was crisp as we drank hot chocolate drinks during our walk down the historic Western street to our grande lodge where we slumbered in comfort. At the break of dawn the mountains arose and beckoned us to play through the  white icing and golden aspen trees. Well Alan was the one who played in the mountains. Mr. PJ and I walked through the neighborhoods and made wishes as we walked passed the little wooden homes. The locals were actually quite shocked to see the muddy mountain bike return to town from someone who was from Florida.

Well it was very difficult to leave this town. It really captured our hearts and will forever be with us in our dreams. We contemplated finding rentals as we hadn't yet locked down our rental in Seattle. This is another long story. In the end we rationalized and packed up our bags.

Good buy moon, good buy starlight.

Gorge-ous HWY 50

Ok. Goosebumps and loss of breath are quite frequent along this drive to our destination in Crested Butte, Colorado. Every turn opened to amazing views as we followed the river through the gorge. Definitely a must do drive or train ride.

The Watering Hole

Finally our thirst is quenched with desert terrain and a fresh reservoir perfect for a rest in Lake Pueblo State Park, Colorado. So we pitched our tent and roasted some marshmallows for s'mores under a blanket of stars and moonlight glow. The following day we were eager to hit the trails for some mountain biking and hiking.

The Old West

After many hours of driving along the historic Santa Fe Trail with endless seas of grain, we reached a nice place to saddle up and rest in Dodge City, Kansas.  Along this old route (Highway 50) there are many little old west towns with cute town centers that break up the long drives. Mr. PJ was actually quiet frightened by this 4 legged beast even though their profiles are quite similar.

And we celebrated someone's birthday with delicious homemade chocolate cake.  Yum!

Home on the Range

We've landed upon a natural oasis  amongst the wide open plains of the mid-west. Our place of rest and relaxation included home cooked meals, a beautiful backyard with monarchs resting on noses and a "mountain" for play.

Westward Bound

After days of shifts and transitions, we began to embark on the open road towards the land of nostalgic pioneers and rockn' flannel shirts. As we crossed the bridge of the West, we wagged a smile filled joy as our new adventure began. "The three of us are moving"!
